UK - Denon DJ Sponsors the Return of a Unique Festival Event

The Philosophy and Music Festival at Hay; a totally unique event in the festival calendar.

Returning with a “bigger and better” programme of philosophy sessions, performances and parties, after its much acclaimed debut last year, HowTheLightGetsIn runs from 28 May to 6 June in the famous literary festival town of Hay-on-Wye. It is billed as “bringing together thinkers, performers, artists and musicians to cast light on our lives, to give us insight into what is going on and where we might be heading; and above all to excite the imagination and renew the spirit”.

Denon DJ is kitting out the booth for all three ‘Live and Night Sessions’ parties at the famous Globe at Hay with its latest DN-S3700 digital turntables and DN-X1600 mixer, ensuring performing DJs enjoy the very best pro gear; whether mixing vinyl, CDs or music files. The DN-S3700 decks and DN-X1600 mixer provide unrivalled quality and control, including control of DJ software and digital file libraries on external drives, laptops and iPods®; added to which, the DN-X1600 uniquely features Roland® V-LINK™ protocol for simultaneous VJ mixing.

The Friday opening party features a night of cutting-edge music and eclectic beats ‘curated’ by Radio 1’s Huw Stephens and concert and event promoter, and leading member of the Welsh Music Society, John Roston; the duo behind the wildly successful Sŵn Festival. The night will feature live sets from Muchuu, King Creosote and Sweet Baboo, and Huw Stephens closing the event with his own set.

This year’s festival eclectically mixes music and thought, with performances by Richard Strange, Roots Union, Slow Club, Plaster of Paris, Lulu & The Lampshades, Citadels, and Dockers MC, among a host of artists, and philosophical debate and discussion featuring such luminaries as Zygmunt Bauman, described by The Guardian as ‘the most influential sociologist working in Europe’, award-winning author Philip Pullman, eminent mathematician Roger Penrose, Neo-Conservative commentator Douglas Murray, and leading Marxist theorist Alex Callinicos, and Baroness Mary Warnock.

HowTheLightGetsIn is this year supported by The Wellcome Trust, Intelligent Life Magazine, Open Gallery, Prospect Magazine and the British Humanist Association.
